About ETM

The company

With its’ head office in Stockholm and a subsidiary in Sydney, ETM is a Swedish provider of “machine to machine” (M2M) or Internet of Things (IoT) telecommunications products and services.

ETM was formed 1982 – long before anyone came up with the terms IoT or M2M and we have helped and supported our customers to connect things since then.

Today there is a lot of buzz about IoT and M2M but for us, everything is about helping our customers to “connecting things” by the help of the global cellular telecom network.

Our mission is to transform our customers’ data from a remote location to the right place in the right format at the most cost effective and reliable manner.

As one of the leading companies within the smart electric metering industry we are focused on developing market leading 2G, 3G and 4G cellular IoT/M2M products. Other key markets serviced by ETM include; transport, environmental monitoring, and industrial automation. ETM has been selected as a preferred supplier to the “Smart Grid Gotland” project lead by Vattenfall, Gotlands Energi AB, Svenska Kraftnät, Schneider Electric and KTH. During 2013 ETM became an official Development Partner to NES (former Echelon Co.), which develops products for energy management.

Since several years we are the supplier of cellular modems to Landis + Gyr industrial electrical meters.

Technical knowhow and capacity

ETM has an ongoing and close relationship with Gemalto M2M GmbH (formally Siemens Wireless Modules), using Gemalto’s modules as the key component throughout our range of cellular terminals since 1997. The ETM subsidiary in Sydney, is an official distributor of Gemalto modules for Australia and New Zealand.

Design and development of ETM’s modems and intelligent terminals occurs in Sweden and Australia. ETM has adapted their cellular terminals for data logging, remote metering, control, and SMS alarm applications. To date ETM has manufactured and shipped more than a quarter of a million cellular communication devices to customers across the globe.

ETM’s 2G GSM ETM9350 terminal has been utilised for large deployments of electricity meters from NES/Echelon and many more electrical meter vendors. Building on this success, the new ETM-Purple modem with a powerful processor, real time operating software and power failure detection based on super capacitor technology is a very flexible, cost effective and robust solution for smart electrical metering and other demanding IOT/M2M applications.

The company also provides information and automated data logging services via a WEB based back office system called ETM Web Office (EWO). ETM’s range of intelligent modems are capable of sending cellular network quality of service data together with logged values from unit IO’s to the EWO for visualization or integration to a customer’s Scada system.

Production capacity

During 2016 the company produced and delivered approximately 35.000 modems to various projects and customers. The production of electronics and mechanics is outsourced to Hanza and LEAB which are two major ISO certified manufactories in Sweden with the final configuration and testing performed in-house at the company head office in Stockholm.

Reliable and cost effective products to connect things combined with fast, friendly and first class support. That´s ETM.
